Our Projects

We believe that regular sport activities and on-going training and mentoring can make a positive difference to children everywhere. By revitalising forgotten reserves and rusty old equipment or by building an entirely new precinct, our aim is to provide the children of extreme disadvantaged areas with access to sport.

When we identify a project, we begin by working alongside the local community and, first and foremost understanding, its needs, its residents and their families. Then, together with the local council and other interested supporters, we design and build the project with financial and in-kind assistance from committed individuals and businesses.

Seacombe Street Reserve, Elizabeth Grove

This had been a wasteland for 40 years and was covered in shattered glass, gravel and dust. Together with the City of Playford, we’ve been able to give local kids a place they can be proud to use. It’s about changing the landscape of their community forever.

The new sports ground has tennis, netball and basketball courts, a running track, grassed oval, play equipment, trees and shaded picnic and BBQ facilities.

The Secombe Street project will give more than 550 local kids access to the facilities and free coaching through weekly, and ongoing, programs. Schools are also taking advantage of the revitalised reserve and structuring sports lessons around the facilities.

Kudos to the City of Playford who listened to our plans and assisted with $300,000 to transform the reserve into a multi-use sports and recreation ground.

Rajah Street Reserve, Oaklands Park

Oaklands Park’s Rajah Street Reserve, once a desolate and unfriendly park, is now an exciting and welcoming recreation hub for children and families.

The project, the first by RRSF, was created jointly with the City of Marion and transformed the run down reserve into a modern multi-use sport and recreation ground in just three months from approval.

The multi-purpose grounds include two sports courts for tennis, netball and basketball; exercise equipment including steppers and a sit up bench; a 40 metre running track; walking path; new landscaping and tree plantings; grassed area with soccer goals; play equipment including a climbing structure and spinner and a shaded picnic and BBQ area.

RRSF is committed to continued support with ongoing training programs and mentoring from elite athletes for local kids.

The overhaul cost $300,000 with the Foundation providing the bulk of the investment through fundraising and grants while the City of Marion contributed $55,000 plus design and project management skills. Corporate partners provided in-kind support.
